HeatnBond FeatherLite is a paper backed, iron-on, sewable, double-sided adhesive for bonding fabric without extra weight or stiffness. This lightweight formula is great for multi-layer pieces, landscape quilts, and wearables since it gets even softer after laundering. Use it in place of pinning or basting for appliqué shapes on quilts, wall hangings and attire. Draw directly on the paper backing to easily design appliqué pieces!

General Directions

Pre-wash all materials (without fabric softener) you will be using prior to fusing. Pre-test adhesive on materials prior to fusing. Fabric pieces bonded with HeatnBond Featherlite must be sewn for permanent bond.

  1. Preheat iron to medium heat, NO steam. Place adhesive on back of material to be bonded (paper liner should face up).
  2. Using firm pressure in a circular motion, iron the paper for 2 seconds. Repeat until entire surface is bonded. Allow to cool.
  3. Cut to size or shape needed. Peel off paper liner.
  4. Place material, adhesive side down, on top of project. Using firm pressure in a circular motion, iron for 4-6 seconds on each section until entire piece is bonded.
  5. Times listed above are for cotton. Iron thick fabrics an additional 2 seconds from the back of the project.
  6. Hand or Machine sew along edges.

Tips:

  • Do not touch iron directly to the adhesive sheet. Do not iron directly to your ironing board.
  • HeatnBond FeatherLite can be run thru an INKJET printer (NOT a laser jet or copy machine). Cut to printer size, feed into printer to print on the paper side, set printer to Draft or Transparency setting, allow to dry before touching. Run any lettering in mirror setting so they are the correct orientation when cut from the fabric.
  • Must be sewn or otherwise attached before washing. Machine wash cold and dry on low heat or no heat (and in accordance to garment / fabric washing directions). Avoid repeated or excessive ironing to the area after fusing.

"I ordered some fabric that I couldn't find in my local area and found it in a number of shops where I could get it online. Patched Works had the best combination of fabric + shipping price of the several sites where it was available. Good service, great communication, and the fabric came with a surprise free paper pattern and QR Code to their youtube channel. Very nice! I would definitely choose them again!"

"This store is so great! They have lots of beautiful fabrics in all styles and the staff is so friendly. I first visited in December while in town visiting my mil and it was my first stop on this visit because they’re just so welcoming. They have a decent selection of precuts scattered throughout the store as well as notions and patterns which are perfect to pick up as souvenirs each visit. As a younger quilter I am sometimes talked down to when I visit a quilt shop but the employees here are always so friendly and encouraging. They have a good parking lot and are easy to find even for an out of towner like myself. I can’t wait to come back the next time I’m in the area to pick up more fabric for the stash!"

"This is a fantastic quilt shop with every imaginable fabric you can think of. The owner and employees are friendly, knowledgeable, professional and very helpful. They have a huge inventory of high quality quilting fabrics, kits and everything you need to make your project a success. Plenty of parking, easy to access, well lit, great displays for inspiration. Highly recommended, well worth the trip."
